Located in the northwestern portion of the United States, Montana is bounded by Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Part of the Rocky Mountains run through Montana, yet more than half of the state is wide open prairie. The capital city is Helena, and the largest city is Billings.
